Girl's Day Out!!!

While the rest of the girls in our apartment decided to travel, Alex and I stayed in Rome!!  I had a package to mail so we first headed to the Vatican and had our first mailing experience.  For the postman speaking very little English and for me speaking hardly any Italian, I think it went fairly smoothly.  Once that was done, we left to see some of the sights of the city that we hadn't been to yet, such as...
Spanish Steps
...the Spanish Steps!  On Saturdays, the stairs are usually crowded with people and this one was no different. Not only was it fun to watch all of the people interacting in the area but it was also quite the experience walking all the way to the top.  Yes, that's right, all the way to the top.
View of the city from the top!
Again, it was totally worth it!
And another view...
At the top of the stairs was a church which we decided to go into.  Inside was a magnificent sculpture of Christ after the crucifiction.

The nave of the church was also very beautiful along with the altar, however, I think there was some sort of service going on so we didn't go in very far.

After our adventures on the Spanish Steps, we decided to walk down Via del Corso-one of the main shopping areas in the city.  On our way we found Steinway & Sons...
Beautiful baby grand in the window...
...needless to say we just walked past...
Fontana di Trevi
We then made our way to the famous Fontana di Trevi so that Alex could throw a coin in and make a wish which is one of the traditions associated with this famous fountain which was designed by Bernini.

When we finally got home, it was time to eat any remaining leftovers in the frige since we would be gone for a week to Sicily.  To reward ourselves, we went out for dessert!
Amazing chocolate cake....
Fondue, chocolate cake, and a bottle of wine? Couldn't have asked for a better night. :)
